All delegates must book for the social events they wish to attend, including the Corporate Members' Evening, evening events on Tuesday 16 May 2006 and the Conference Banquet.

Corporate Members' Evening on Brighton Pier
(1930 'till late)

 

 

 

 

 

This will be a fun evening on Brighton Pier with a Champagne Civic Reception and a fish and chips supper. There will be a variety of entertainment to include dancing, karaoke and free passes to the funfair. This is corporate-sponsored hospitality at its best!

Six evening activities have been planned for focus delegates. Please make your choice on the registration form.

Brighton Museum & Art Gallery

We have hired the Brighton Museum exclusively for the evening. This contains an extensive collection including fashion and style, 20th century art and design and world art. This will be followed by a meal at a nearby restaurant.

A Walk along the South Downs

A guided walk, mainly downhill, from Ditchley Beacon to Lewes along the South Downs. The walk will be approximately 5 miles duration and will be followed by a pub resturant meal. Please note that appropriate clothing and footwear must be worn. Limited to a maximum of 30 participants.

Coral Brighton & Hove Stadium

A night at the greyhound races with food and drink provided in the restaurant with its panoramic view of the track and table-side betting facilities. First bet and first drink included!

Harvey's Brewery

A visit to the well-known local brewery in Lewes, with an opportunity for tasting, followed by a meal in a local pub restaurant. Limited to a maximum of 50 participants.

Golf Tournament sponsored by

 

 

Keen golfers are invited to participate in the tournament, which starts in he early afternoon. Transport and meal included. Participants are expected to bring their own clubs and appropriate clothing and golf shoes.

Dinner in the Hilton Metropole Hotel

For those who do not wish to take part in any of the social events, there will be a three-course dinner served in the restaurant of the Conference Hotel.

Open Jam Session

An open jam session will  be held at Polar Central on Queens Road (near the clock tower), starting at 18.30 and finishing at midnight.

All would-be musicians, singers, dancers and audience are invited to attend!

There will be a core rhythm section who can play any kind of music: jazz, blues, funk, pop, house, garage......and who will of course step aside for anyone who wants to play piano, bass or drums. Anyone wishing to play or sing specific numbers should contact Hugh Mitchell (h.mitchell@imperial.ac.uk) ASAP so that music can be prepared.

Retired Members' Day

An event arranged exclusively for retired members of the Association. Participants will have the opportunity to meet in the exhibition during the morning. Lunch has been arranged at a restaurant in the popular Brighton Marina. After lunch participants will have time to stroll around the marina or shop in the Marina Village before returning to the hotel. Coach transfers to and from the Marina will be provided. The fee does not include the Conference Banquet but Retired Members are welcome to purchase a ticket.

 

 

Conference Banquet (1930 - 0000), Hilton Metropole Hotel

This evening will start with a pre-dinner drinks reception in the Oxford Gallery, where colourful cocktails will be served to the relaxing sounds of a steel band. An exotic three-course dinner and wine will be followed by entertainment from a Salsa band with dancers to lead the way. Tropical theme - dress accordingly.
